2018 Season Finale Tournament a Massive Success

Internationals Soccer Club brought back its Fall Season Finale this year and it turned out to be a great success. A total of 43 teams competed from Canada, Wisconsin, New York, and Pennsylvania. Teams from U9 to U15 participated in some closely contested games within nine divisions with our own Internationals teams coming away with several championships.

Internationals 2010 Girls won its division going 4-0 on the weekend with an impressive 20 goals difference over the four games. Internationals 2008 Red came away with a win in the championship game after going 3-0 in group play. Our 2008 Red beat out Pacesetter 08 Girls Villa Red in a toughly contested final where both teams played some wonderful soccer. Internationals 2006 Red team beat CSAIU 06G Pre-DA for the second time on the weekend in the final with a 2-0 victory, which was followed by two more championships for Internationals SC 2005 Blue and Internationals SC 2005 Red. Teams also making it to the championship games were Internationals SC 2007 Red and Blue teams, and Internationals 2006 Blue, all of which played in fiercely contested games against strong competition.

A highlight of the weekend was not only the level of soccer being played but also the enthusiasm of both the players and parents in wet weather conditions. With fine rain on Saturday making conditions slick under foot, games on Sunday were followed up in heavy rain conditions. However, the weather did not dampen the spirits of all involved, with players showing great perseverance and positivity to end their fall season.

Other teams that were crowned champions during the weekend were Pacesetter 09 Girls Villa Red, Cloverleaf Thunder U10 Girls, Erie Admirals U12 Girls, and CSAIU 07G Pre-DA team. We want to congratulate all teams on their success.

“We were very happy with our Fall Finale this year, bringing back our tournament for our members allows us to end our season on a high with local game play and teams traveling to us from surrounding states,” Mark Platts, one of the tournament directors, said. “We are grateful to all the coaches and teams who traveled to us making the tournament a fun and competitive experience for all. We want to thank our sponsors who helped make the weekend happen and for supporting our club and tournament. The Cleveland Clinic was the tournament’s main sponsor with CycleBar, Onesource Furniture Group, and Realtor Maria Dumitru-Brito also supporting the tournament with sponsorship packages. We are excited to continue and grow this tournament in future years and to bring in even more teams to the area for a great weekend of soccer.”
