Internationals SC Claims Back-to-Back Super Y League National Championships

Internationals SC left the 2019 Super Y League Finals in Tampa, Florida with yet another national championship as the U14s won back-to-back national titles, finishing with an undefeated record of 5-0-0.  The team boasted a +14 goal differential, scoring an astonishing 20 goals while conceding just six goals.

Katie Scott (10 goals), Eleanor Klinger (five goals, five assists), and Lilah Cornell (six assists) led the attack for the U14s, while Sarah Csernyik finished as the team leader in saves.  Lauren Mahoney, Maggie Oliver, and Annamarie Williams were all praised for their work on both sides of the ball.  The most notable match of the event was a nine-goal semifinal match where two Internationals SC players earned hat tricks.

“We are so excited for our U14 Girls to win back-to-back national championships for the Super Y,” Internationals SC Assistant Director of Coaching Jared Rose said. “These girls put so much focus into the preparation for this event.  After grinding through the first three games, they started finding their rhythm in the semifinal game and just kept rolling through into the finals with some impressive combination play, suffocating defense, and finishing.”

Internationals SC also had a second team, a U13 squad, at the tournament.  The U13s finished with a 1-1-1 record.  Reese Gallagher, Cecelia Craig, and Gaby Signorino all shared the team lead in goals, while Gracie Brink led the defense in saves.  Ansley Batey, Louisa Fragnoli, Ella Bard, and Delaney Miller all put in memorable performances.

“Our U13s competed at the Super Y Nationals this year as well,” Rose added. “It was an amazing experience for our younger team with some great opportunity to learn and grow.  We played some good soccer and were dangerous in spurts, but could not find the finishing touch.  They played some very good competition and were in every game battling until the end.”

The U13 players stayed at the event to watch their older “sisters” from the club play in the semifinals and finals.

“Both groups represented Internationals Soccer Club and Ohio North with amazing class,” Rose concluded.

Internationals SC now has over 15 Super Y League national championships.
