Internationals SC standout Kellyn Fausel hails from Tuscarawas County and is widely regarded as the top player from that area. She was quick to point out that her time in the ECNL has been crucial to her development.
“The atmosphere playing in the ECNL is incredible,” Fausel said. “There is amazing competition and unbelievable players throughout this league. I have grown so much as a player playing in the ECNL. You receive so many great experiences while playing in the ECNL such as showcase events every year.”
Fausel is happy that she chose Internationals SC and doesn’t mind the lengthy drive from New Philadelphia to Medina several times a week.
“I joined ISC looking for the next level of soccer,” Fausel said. “Not only has Internationals helped me develop as a player, they have also have made me a better person. They have taught me accountability of my actions on and off the field and dedication to all things in life.”
She shared that ECNL and Club Director Keri Sarver has been a major influence.
“Keri Sarver has definitely had the biggest impact on my career,” Fausel said. “She drives me and encourages in the way that I understand best. Not only does she coach on the field, she also teaches important life lessons that will stick with you for the rest of your life.”
Fausel has seen many benefits from being part of the club experience at Internationals SC.
“Over the past years that I have been at Internationals I have gained more self-confidence of my abilities on the field,” Fausel said.
The talented center back has developed a strong and confident playing style.
“I try to approach every game with a positive mindset and a clear head,” Fausel said. “My only focus at that time is the game and what is going to happen in the next 90 minutes and what I need to do to benefit the team.”
Fausel has set some important goals for her future.
“As I am coming off of an injury my short-term goal is to be able to get back onto the field,” Fausel said. “My long-term goal is to play in college.”
Seeing ISC alums compete at the college, professional, and international levels has been very motivating for the young standout.
“It's inspiring to see some of ISC alums playing at such high levels because at one point in their lives they were in the same position as me,” Fausel said. “This shows that Internationals SC opens doors for players to reach the next level."
Sarver has been impressed with Fausel’s contributions to the club.
“Kellyn is a fun personality to coach,” Sarver said. “She is tough, competitive, and has natural talent and ability supported by a drive and desire to improve. In addition, she is a dedicated club member. She displays a high level of commitment by to travel from New Philly and she rarely misses any sessions or events. Kellyn has a bright future ahead and we are looking forward to Kelly's return from injury as she rejoins her U16 ECNL team this spring.”
It's an exciting time to be part of Internationals SC, especially with talented players like Kellyn Fausel leading the way on and off the field.
